Growing up in Oregon, I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by the dynamic beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Though my curiosity for the medium has always been at my core it was at age 12 when I was introduced to photography. By age 15 I was ‘exposed’ to film photography . Learning the way film functions and how cameras worked was the fundamental building block for my curiosity of photo designing/composition.

The darkroom allowed my mind to comprehend photography as an artistic medium which played a large role in my exploration of motion and multi-image compositions. For the majority of my life it seems like I have unconsciously been training my brain to constantly scan, observe and constantly question everything. My keen eye for creative design, ideas and composition can all be attributed to my life-long passion for photography of all kinds.    

Motion within a picture creates a type of commentary a static image or even a video can not capture. My art and imagery attempts to trigger emotional responses ranging from liminal uneasiness to euphoric delight. On the other hand my work can be playful, light-hearted and even comedic at times.

The way one photo can bring the other to life is a beautiful thing. A mundane image standing alone is nothing special, though methodically add another, and it suggests a narrative, now add a third and you have yourself a story.

There was always something so inspiring about the way the sumi  ink would hit the paper and brush across deliberately. My mother, a talented calligrapher, had many late nights where she wrote pages and pages of the same four characters that were seemingly identical. Harmony and design is in my nature. My fine attention to detail I get from my mother and my determination is a product of my environment.

My creativity and passions span across many mediums such as fashion, art, architecture, conceptual design, furniture design…and so the list goes on. I hope this serves as an invitation for viewers to join me on this perpetual journey of exploration and expression.
